"While I was at work, a woman pulled into my driveway and ran into my vehicle, causing damage to three separate areas of my car. She is insured by State Farm. My vehicle is a Tesla. I took my car to a repair shop of my choosing because the shop recommended by State Farm could not schedule me at a time that worked with my job. Once the dealership finished assessing my car, State Farm provided me with a rental vehicle. However, I was later informed that State Farm would only pay for one of the three areas of damage. They told me I could tow my car from the shop, and at that point, they stopped covering the rental car. State Farm had previously provided a subsidized amount toward the rental, but once they stopped paying, I had to use that amount to cover the rental costs myself. Now, the repair shop is requesting payment for the subsidized amount, even though my car is still not repaired and is not drivable. Before the accident, my car was fully functional — it was parked in my driveway while I was at work when it was hit. This situation feels unfair. I am beginning to question whether there may be arrangements between repair shops and insurance companies that influence how much work gets approved or paid for."
